About

Asst. Prof. Dr. Esra Plümer Bardak is an art historian, researcher, and active member of non-profit associations. She earned her PhD in Art History at the University of Nottingham in 2012 and has taught as teaching assistant, guest-lecturer and lecturer in several higher education institutions in the UK and Cyprus since 2007.  She has also completed a PG-Dip in Arts Management and Cultural Policy at Queen’s University, Belfast. Publications include monographic accounts on Unica Zürn, Hans Bellmer, Robert Desnos as well as Cypriot artists Gönen Atakol, İsmet Tatar, Sümer Erek, Ayhan Menteş. Other publications include rethinking art history narratives in the Turkish Community in Cyprus (Contemporary Art in Cyprus, Bloomsbury, 2021). She is the Series Editor of the six volume European Mediterranean Art Association (EMAA) Art Publications on art and art history published as part of the European Union funded Art for All Project led by EMAA (2021).
