Huri Yontucu was born in 1990 in Nicosia. She earned her BA in Psychology degree from Eastern Mediterranean University in 2013, MA in Applied Psychology degree from Near East University in 2015 and PhD. Communication and Media Studies degree from Eastern Mediterranean University in 2022. Her PhD. research looked at ‘The Role of Social Psychological Processes in Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot Journalists’ Professional Lives within Deeply Divided Societies’. She won the “Academic Work that Contributed to Journalism” award of the Turkish Cypriot Journalists Association Gazeteciler Birliği/Journalists Association with her academic article titled “The Role of Social Psychological Processes of the Journalists’ War and Peace Journalism Attitudes” in 2022. Her research areas mostly rely on Journalism, Peace Journalism, Media Literacy and Social Psychology. She is an editor on the Editorial Board of ArtTimes. She is working as a peace activist and academic at NGOs for reconciliation, peacebuilding and reunification in Cyprus.
