Hasan Erkek is graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Language, History and Geography, Department of Theater Studies (1990). He has M.A. (1994) and PhD degrees (1999) from the same university. He started to work as a Research Assistant in 1991, at Anadolu University, State Conservatory, Performing Art Department. In 2000, he became Assistant Professor (2001), Associate Professor (2002) and then Full-Professor (2009).
Prof. Dr. Hasan Erkek is a poet, a playwright and a professor of drama. He has been awarded more than 20 national and international prizes. He published 26
artistic and scientific books in 14 different countries (Turkey, France, Spain, Germany, Russia, Croatia, Armenia, Georgia, Bulgaria, Romania, Albania, Azerbaijan, Hong Kong, Cameroon).
His works in his academic career have focused on the art of drama. His plays were performed by more than 40 theatres from different countries, including primarily Turkish National Theatres. Furthermore, he wrote radio plays (approximately 20 radio plays were broadcast by National Radios in Turkey) and film scripts (some of them were filmed).
Prof. Erkek took part and presented papers in many international theatre festivals and symposiums. He has more than a hundred articles published in various journals and newspapers.
Hasan Erkek has worked as the president of Turkish Playwrights and Play Translators Association and as well as the Head of the Department of Performing Arts at Anadolu University. He is currently working as the Dean of ARUCAD Faculty of Music and Performing Arts and Head of the Acting Department.
