Associate Professor Dr. Nuran Öze, Director of the Institute and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Communication, and Associate Professor Dr. Elham Etemadi, Head of the Textile and Fashion Design Department at Arkın University of Creative Arts and Design (ARUCAD), represented the University at CUDES 2024: 15th International Congress on Current Debates in Social Sciences, held on September 7-8, 2024, at Grigol Robakidze University in Batumi, Georgia.
At CUDES 2024: 15th International Congress on Current Debates in Social Sciences, a prestigious platform known for enabling the presentation of current research in various fields of social sciences, ARUCAD Institute Director and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Communication, Associate Professor Dr. Nuran Öze, shared her work entitled “Aging and Digitalisation Through the Eyes of Individuals Under 65: Joining the Herd or Being Excluded from It?” Öze’s work was highly appreciated by the congress organising committee and was awarded the ‘Best Work Award‘. Öze stood out with this study, which particularly examined the socio-cultural effects of the digital age on elderly individuals and the opportunities and risks of exclusion brought by digitalisation.
ARUCAD Textile and Fashion Design Department Head, Associate Professor Dr. Elham Etemadi, presented her work titled “The Triumph of Capital; The Social Prestige of Art in Iran” at the Congress. Etemadi’s work examined the effects of capitalism on artistic production in Iran, presenting findings on the relationship between art and social status and prestige. Etemadi drew attention with her work analysing how the art world in Iran is shaped by capitalist structures.
At CUDES 2024, where seventy-six presentations were made from eleven countries, the presentations of ARUCAD academics were well-received by congress participants for their original perspectives addressing different aspects of social sciences.
