Arkin University of Creative Arts and Design (ARUCAD) Career Days commenced with a speech by successful fashion designer, Zerrin Akıncı. Akıncı described both the establishment of her design brand “Made by ZA” and her career journey.
Invited within the scope of the Career Days organised by the ARUCAD Career and Alumni Office, Fashion Designer Zerrin Akıncı, discussed her design brand “Made by ZA”, pointing out that they have been producing powerful and elegant fashion designs for women for ten years and that they produce contrary to the fast fashion trend. Akıncı recounted her passion since childhood for fashion design and her decision to pursue this field at the age of 26, moving to America to pursue education in this field.
Stating that fashion design is becoming increasingly accessible in Northern Cyprus and that reaching global brands has become possible with the widespread use of the internet, Akıncı highlighted to young designers that there is much they can learn from participating in business life and working alongside other designers.
Following the speech, Zerrin Akıncı answered students’ questions and recommended that ARUCAD students actively participate in business life. Akıncı stated, “If one door closes on you, keep knocking and never give up.”
ARUCAD Career Days will continue with the participation of Creative Director and multidisciplinary artist Umay Yılmaz Kutay and Architect Desen Çizenel.
