Arkin University of Creative Arts and Design (ARUCAD) colored the wall at the Ciklos Turn on the Kyrenia-Nicosia road as part of the “Ciklos Mural Art Project” together with its students and artist academicians.
The ARUCAD Family has put its name on a colourful social event by painting the wall on the Kyrenia-Nicosia road since last week. ARUCAD, which provides education focused on art, design and communication, coloured the wall at the Ciklos Turn together with its students and artist academics. After the workshops held in the studios of the University for 3 weeks, the patterns which were determined were painted on to the wall at the Ciklos Turn. In the workshops held, the contribution of the concrete wall to the texture of the city through nature-organic, urban-geometric and traditional cultural motifs were discussed.
With the ARUCAD Ciklos Mural Art Project, an event organized within the scope of the spring festivals that could not be held due to the restrictions during the pandemic, the students added color to the road by painting the wall with the patterns they designed for ten days with the participation of the university academics.
The ARUCAD Rector Prof. Dr. Asim Vehbi, who also participated in the event and painted walls with the students, said “We implemented the Ciklos Mural Art Project with the approval of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, together with our students and teachers, in order to add color to our city and to make people feel art on the streets. With this project, we wanted to give morale to our students and academics who were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic process while coloring our wall in an aesthetic way. We thank the Highways Department, who supported us completely during the project process, our Kyrenia Police, who meticulously ensured our safety, and our Minister, Mrs. Resmiye Canaltay and Private Secretary Mr. Saffet Nadiri whom I would like to thank on behalf of the ARUCAD Family.”
The Ciklos Mural Art Project, which ARUCAD has been continuing for ten days, has been suspended due to the final exams of the students. The project will continue during the Orientation Days next September.
