10 November, Atatürk Commemoration Program organized by the Rectorate of Arkin University of Creative Arts and Design (ARUCAD) has been held in ARUCAD Garden.
The program begun with the minute of silence to commemorate the founder of Republic of Turkey and the great Leader Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, followed by the National Anthem.
Communication Faculty Dean, Prof. Dr. Pınar Eraslan Yayınoğlu who gave a speech said, “There are two Mustafa Kemal: One is me, flesh and bone; temporary Mustafa Kemal… Second Mustafa Kemal, I cannot express him with the word “I”; it is us, not me! He is an intellectual and warrior community in every corner of the country that strives for new ideas, new lives and great goals. Speaking about the ideas and ideals that Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk wanted the ‘heirs’ to, Yayınoğlu said, “Perhaps the most important factor that requires us to see his thought system different to many other leaders recorded in history was his statement “If a nation is deprived of art and artists, it cannot own a life; such a nation is like a crippled person without a foot, or a barren arm. A nation without art lacks one the vital arteries which lifeblood circulates in.”
Prof. Dr. Pınar Eraslan Yayınoğlu ended her speech by commemorating Atatürk with love and gratitude on the 82nd anniversary of his death.
By the end of the commemoration program, academic and administrative staff as well as students led by Rector, Prof. Dr. Asim Vehbi laid flowers under the Atatürk’s bust.
