On 15 October 2019, our students have attended the exhibition ‘Camille Enlart Photograph Arhive’, which was held by the CVAR/Severis Foundation. In 2016, the Centre for Visual Arts and Research (CVAR)/Severis Foundation added over 500 photos, of the Archaeologist Camille Enlart from his travels between 1896-1901, to its collection. Based on this archive, CVAR brought together the students of Northern & Southern Cyprus to capture Cyprus’s visual heritage.
ARUCAD participated in this adventurous photography project with its students: Bahire Akmandor, Elis Ertepınar, Mehveş Beyidoğlu, Tanya Güryel and Tijen Yakup. The ARUCAD coordinator of the project was Assistant Professor Gülsen Bal, a lecturer at the Department of Photography & Video, whereas the assistant, from the Culture and Art Coordinatorship, was Dize Kükrer. Referring back to the 19th century travel photos, the attendees identified the locations that the photos were taken and revived the old images once again. Centre for Visual Arts and Research exhibited the photos at the end of the whole process. The opening of the exhibition was on 15 October 2019, Tuesday a the CVAR/Severis Foundation building. The exhibition will remain open till 20th December at 285 Ermou Street, Nicosia, 1017 for anyone who wishes to visit. The exhibition is planned to be repeated at the Girne Art Rooms Gallery.
