The rector of Arkin University of Creative Arts and Design (ARUCAD),Prof. Dr. Asim Vehbi expressed gratitude to the University’s Search and Rescue Team (AKUT) and the Basketball Team during an event where he presented them with certificates.
Certificates of appreciation were presented by Rector Prof. Dr. Asim Vehbi to the ARUCAD Search and Rescue Team (AKUT), who participated in the USAR Games 2023 organised in cooperation with the International Universities Search and Rescue Council and the Civil Defence Organisation, and to the the university basketball team, who successfully represented the university in the league.
Speaking at the event, Rector Prof. Dr. Asim Vehbi said, “As a university focused on art and design, it is not easy to have two successful teams in only its fourth year. By achieving this, our AKUT and basketball teams represented our university in the best possible way in both the matches and events they participated in. Sport is an indispensable part of our life. Therefore, I believe that all our students should engage in sports according to their interests. When we participate in inter–university competitions on the island, we do not have have the ambition to always finish first; of course, setting goals is important, but there are other things that are equally important, if not more important than success; being a team, experiencing team spirit, forming friendships, and being organised. Therefore, I would like to thank our teams who have given us this happiness. They dedicated their time from their personal lives and their classes to be a part of these teams. They practiced, rehearsed, and trained as much as they could, and they have participated in matches and tournaments. They have achieved results that have made us proud. I sincerely thank both our students and the ARUCAD staff who contributed,” he added.
