The Arkın Creative Arts and Design University (ARUCAD) Spring Festival started with a cortege where the students wore specially designed costumes with the theme of ‘Cosplay’ on Wednesday, May 25. The students marched through the centre of the city in their costumes gaining the appreciation of the people of Kyrenia while adding colour to the city.
The 2nd ARUCAD Spring Festival started with a walk to Girne town centre from the University Campus in a ‘Cosplay’ themed costume cortege. The costumes, designed by ARUCAD students at the University’s workshops, were admired by the people of Kyrenia. The people showed their appreciation by applauding the students during the march.
On the first day of the festival, which took place between May 25-27, a karaoke night and performances by DJ Alchemist and Nevss took place. The university hosted concerts, yoga, handicraft-food stands, dance performances, workshops, competitions, sports competitions, and costume party events during the 3-day festivities.
The activities, which began with a yoga session on Thursday morning, May 26, under the leadership of trainer Mürvet Yerli, continued with competitions with prizes. In the evening, the band ‘Academia”, consisting of faculty and staff members, Çağdaş Öğüç, Hakan Karahasan, Ali Azhari and Özgür Tosun gave a concert followed by the band ‘Tesadüf’ comprised of young Cypriot musicians took to the stage at ARUCAD Garden.
After the costume contest held on Friday, May 27, the festival ended with the concerts of “Healers” and “Reva”, two Northern Cyprus music groups.
