The Graffiti Club and Nature Sports Club of Arkin University of Creative Arts and Design (ARUCAD), in a collaboration with SPOT Marine Life and with the support of the Northern Cyprus Eco-Agro Tourism Federation, organised an event aimed at increasing environmental awareness to protect the nesting beaches of sea turtles in the Mediterranean Special Environmental Protection Zone. Approximately 165 kilograms of waste was collected from the coastline of this area which hosted over 500 turtle nests in 2023. The ARUCAD Graffiti Club decorated busts placed on the beach.
The ‘Beach Cleaning and Wall Painting’ event organised by the ARUCAD Graffiti Club and Nature Sports Club, in collaboration with SPOT Marine Life and with the support of the Northern Cyprus Eco-Agro Tourism Federation, aimed to raise awareness of environmental responsibility, create awareness, and set an example for the protection of sea turtles. The cleaning of the beach was carried out while drawing attention to serious problems encountered in this region. Busts placed to prevent the entry of vehicles such as ATVs, Jeeps, and motorcycles to the beach, which are one of the major problems encountered in the area, were decorated with drawings by the ARUCAD Graffiti Club. ARUCAD students showed great participation in the event which was organised to spread environmental awareness and protect the habitats of sea turtles.
