Dean of ARUCAD Faculty of Music and Performing Arts, Prof. Dr. Hasan Erkek receives Honour Award from Pjetër Bogdani International Writers Association
Dean of the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts, Prof. Dr. Hasan Erkek was awarded the 2022 Honorary Award of the Pjetër Bogdani International Writers Association.
This year, Prof. Dr. Hasan Erkek was deemed worthy of the “High Writer” honour award given to the best writers translated into Albanian language by the Pjetër Bogdani International Writers Association (Pjetër Bogdani IWA), headquartered in Brussels and Pristina, which aims to bring international literature and Albanian literature closer together.
Erkek, who has more than 20 awards from many national and international platforms and who is an important name in terms of Turkish theatre history, joined the experienced academic staff of ARUCAD as the Dean of the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts, which will begin teaching in the 2022-2023 Academic Year.
Who is Prof. Dr. Hasan Erkek?
He started his career when the radio play named ‘Bedel’ (The Cost), which he wrote while he was a third year university student, was broadcast on TRT Radio Theatre, winning the TRT Radio Theater award. Dr. Hasan Erkek has produced a total of 43 dramatic works, including 8 adult stage plays, 4 stage youth plays, 8 stage children’s plays, 7 film scripts and 16 radio plays. He has written 26 artistic and scientific books published in 14 countries. In addition, the script of the 1991 movie ‘Bedel’ (The Cost), directed by Kartal Tibet, also bears his signature.
Head of the Theatre Acting Department and Chairman of the Board of Playwright Translators Association (OYÇED), Prof. Dr. Erkek has held important positions in many associations and festivals such as the Theatre Writers Association, the International Association of Children’s and Youth Theatres (ASSITEJ), the International Young Playwrights Festival (INTERPLAY), the Authors’ Association, the Child and Youth Publishing Association and the International Puppet and Shadow Play Association (UNIMA). Erkek has presented papers at more than thirty festivals and symposia held in France, Germany, Australia, Netherlands, Brazil, Serbia, Croatia, Greece, Liechtenstein and Tunisia, and has been a jury member at national and international festivals. In 2014-2015 and 2016-2017, he worked as a guest lecturer at the Theatre Department of Paris 8 University in France.
