Arkın University of Creative Arts and Design (ARUCAD) Rector, Prof. Dr. Asım Vehbi issued a message on the occasion of “World Art Day.”
World Art Day, organised by the International Art Association, is a special day celebrated by art enthusiasts every year on April 15th. Prof. Dr. Asım Vehbi, the Rector of the island’s only Arts, Design, and Communications-focused university, emphasised the significance of the day with the following statement: “This day reminds us of the important place art has held in the life of humanity throughout history and highlights how it affects us. Art provides a path for creativity, thought, and emotional expression, connecting people with one another. It enhances people’s imagination and creativity, helping them express their thoughts and ideas. We celebrate World Art Day to emphasise that art is a universal language and that everyone can benefit from its beauty. As a city university, this year we developed a concept by going to Kyrenia Harbour to allow people who use the same route every day or pass through that square for the first time to express themselves artistically. We received very divergent reactions. Our goal was to create greater awareness about the place and impact of art in our lives. As an art university, on the path we embarked upon to contribute value to the city and country where we live, we will continue with such events in collaboration with our people. Let us never give up on embracing art, which is a tool that makes the world a better place.”
