‘THOSE WHO MAKE GAMES ART’ BOOK RELEASED BY ARUCAD PUBLICATIONS.

The book “Those Who Make Games Art” by Prof. Dr. Hasan Erkek, a faculty member of the Acting Department at Arkın University of Creative Arts and Design (ARUCAD), has been published by ARUCAD Publications. The book explores the lives and works of nine esteemed scholars and artists who have contributed significantly to Turkish theatre, in the genre of biography-memoir-criticism.

Prof. Dr. Hasan Erkek, a faculty member of the ARUCAD Acting Department, known for his contributions to Turkish theatre through his plays and scientific books, has presented his new book “Those Who Make Games Art” as the third publication by ARUCAD Publications.

This comprehensive book examines the artistic and scientific endeavours of nine distinguished scholars and artists who have made significant contributions to Turkish theatre, including Prof. Dr. Metin And, Prof. Dr. Sevda Şener, Prof. Dr. Özdemir Nutku, Prof. Dr. Cevat Çapan, Genco Erkal, Prof. Dr. Ayşegül Yüksel, and Prof. Dr. Nurhan Karadağ. Erkek sheds light on their lives and works, sharing his memories with them and bridging the gap between tradition and the future of theatre with a critical perspective.

The book “Those Who Make Games Art”, which shares the experiences of these nine scholars and artists who are researchers, theorists, writers, dramaturges, translators, directors, actors, and critics, serves as a guiding light for professionals and amateurs in the field of theatre, but especially for young people. It also offers inspiration to those engaged in different art forms.

Who is Prof. Dr. Hasan Erkek?

Prof. Dr. Hasan Erkek’s career began when he won the Grand Prize of the TRT Radio Theatre with his radio play titled “Bedel” (The Price) while he was a third-year university student. Since then, he has written a total of 43 dramatic works, including 8 adult stage plays, 4 youth stage plays, 8 children’s stage plays, 7 film scripts, and 16 radio plays, published in 15 countries (Turkey, France, Germany, Russia, China, Bulgaria, Romania, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Albania, Cameroon, Iran, Spain, and Croatia). He has authored 30 artistic and scientific books and has published 22 books abroad. He has presented papers at more than thirty festivals and symposiums in different countries and served as a jury member in national and international festivals. He has received over 20 national and international awards for his works. He served as a visiting professor in the Theatre Department of Paris 8 University in France in 2014-2015 and 2016-2017. Erkek has held positions such as the Head of the Department of Performing Arts at Anadolu University State Conservatory, the Chairman of OYÇED (Playwrights and Translators Association), and the Dean of ARUCAD Faculty of Music and Performing Arts. Currently, he is a faculty member of the ARUCAD Acting Department.
