Workshops

In the printmaking workshop, students not only have the chance to practice the pattern and template design lessons learned from their artist tutors, but also have the opportunity to develop their skills freely by applying their own projects.
When we consider printed works of art in terms of visuality, accessibility and portability, it is possible to understand their importance in art history more easily. Visual, two-dimensional works of art have been carrying the cultural heritage of nations for centuries, and this task becomes even more comprehensive with the latest technology such as 3D printing techniques that ARUCAD offers to its students.
In the printmaking workshops, students create from scratch, booklets, billboards, magazines, brochures, handbooks, posters, etc. While learning to produce, they also gain familiarity with printing techniques.

Drawing and Basic Art Education courses are given in our workshop, which is equipped for the common use of all art disciplines. In our workshop, we experience how to perceive and comprehend our world of vision, sensation and aesthetics through the use of materials such as pencil, charcoal, ink and paint while teaching drawing techniques, through animate and inanimate models, composition, line, texture, perspective colour theories and harmony studies. Through this we learn about the artistic infrastructure of the student. Our workshop also has an area large enough for 20 students to study with all the materials necessary for modern education.

The sculpture studio, where three-dimensional artistic works, modelling and moulding stages are experienced, is the workshop where clay modelling and plaster mouldings are taken. The sculpture workshop is designed as a workshop where students have the opportunity to embody their own ideas by transforming them into original and creative forms, starting from the copying processes of pre-made models used as educational materials. The sculpture workshop, where the moulds of the works modelled with clay are taken and then transformed into more permanent materials, is also a workshop where different disciplines come together and meet. The Sculpture Workshop has storage shelves where students can work in extracurricular times and leave their work in the workshop, and an area that each student can use.

All of our students will be able to implement their creative or functional projects in the ARUCAD Ceramics Workshop, which has been designed in such a way that students or trainees have the opportunity to practice creating works of art or industrial products with ceramics starting from scratch.
Ceramic Workshop students will experience the moulding of red, white and chamotte clays, as well as learning the most beneficial ways of using ceramic and porcelain cooking kilns, pottery lathes, etc. according to the project requirements.
In this workshop, students learn how to make molds of their designs for artistic or mass production purposes. In this workshop, first of all, a plaster model is created in accordance with the design and the mold of the produced model is taken with plaster material. All various model making and mold making techniques are explained to students within the scope of this workshop.
In the Hot Glass Workshop, molten glass up to 1100°C is shaped with metal or wooden tools. This feature of glass, which becomes fluid at high temperatures, can be utilised to produce forms with internal cavities, functional products and sculptures. Our workshop allows you to create and produce artistic works by blowing your breath into the molten glass material and using your imagination as well as architectural decorations and lighting products within the framework of a teamwork.
In the Cold Glass Workshop, students can apply processes such as cutting, grinding, polishing and painting on glass objects that have been previously shaped for artistic or functional use. Students can carry out creative works by using their hand and eye skills to the fullest in this workshop where they can experience cold glass techniques, and have the opportunity to add extra value and meaning to the previously produced product.

In this workshop where the hot glass Fusion forming technique is taught, students learn to make both artistic and functional glass products using transparent and coloured plate glass. Designs that are first visualised in the mind are transferred to paper and then to glass, and finally these glasses are fused to each other under high temperature. This workshop also provides information on how to apply methods such as buckling and hanging used in the Fusion technique.

In the Glass Finishing Workshop, students are able to work on glass objects that have been shaped beforehand, either for artistic or functional use; they have knowledge about applying processes such as cutting, straightening, sandblasting, painting and polishing, etc. In this workshop, where students have the opportunity to add new value and meaning to previously produced glass products, students can conceive original and creative productions by experiencing cold glass forming techniques.

In the Hot Glass Workshop, molten glass material up to 1200°C can be shaped with metal or wooden tools. Owing to the fluid nature of molten glass, it enables three-dimensional sculptures with an inner cavity, functional products, unusual forms, architectural decorations, lighting designs or artistic productions in different forms. This workshop, which, owing to the use of highly molten glass material, requires an intense work plan in physical and mental terms, also calls for great care in terms of hand and eye coordination and the effective use of the working space. In the hot glass workshop, our students can create original designs and works by recognising the importance of teamwork while shaping their imaginations with technical equipment.

Stained glass is a technique in which different designs and compositions are created from pieces of coloured glass.
In the Stained Glass Workshop, students will have the opportunity to learn the finest details about stained glass design and to realise their own designs and artistic productions as well as to obtain theoretical information about the journey of the stained glass technique which adds light, spaciousness and colour to the spaces where it is located.

In the Mould Forming Workshop students learn about all the stages of the emergence of the glass form after the forming and firing of a model made using mud, beeswax and organic or inorganic materials. In the “mould forming” technique, students acquire knowledge about the chemistry of glass and the extensive use of glass materials, as well as producing sculpture and object designs from glass materials.

Within the scope of Open Flame Shaping Course and Workshop within the Faculty of Arts, our students develop their knowledge and skills in different design and artistic applications from jewellery to objects by using a blowtorch, mandrels and coloured glass rods. Students will personally witness the fascinating transformation of the objects they design under high temperature during the transition process of glass material from solid to liquid state. After our students learn to use the high-precision instruments in the workshop carefully with the forms they design, they can create unique works by by applying their newly acquired knowledge.

Expand your ability to explore form and function by learning how to make things out of wood!
In this workshop, where wood is processed as a raw material and made ready for participation in production processes, students studying in Architecture, Interior Architecture and Industrial Design experience how they can use wood in their projects.
The workshop process includes learning the properties of wood and the safe use of machines with supportive and experienced trainers.

The carpenter’s workshop is a workshop where ARUCAD students can produce furniture prototypes developed in their projects and designs for furniture production which come to life by shaping wood.

The semi-open stone workshop is the place where stone materials are cut, carved and shaped. The space is equipped with a compressed air system, wooden stands, and large and small electric spirals. It is a planned area to be used for transferring previously planned projects to stone. The Stone Sculpting Workshop has storage shelves where students can work and store their works
