Studios
The Film Studio includes units such as fully equipped film studios, photography studios, sound studio, editing room and backstage/make-up rooms where students can gain practical experience. Students can experience special effects at the film studios with the most advanced GreenBox installation in the region, while observing and learning about the effect of light on photography and video. In addition, ARUCAD provides its students with the latest photography and video cameras and equipment support that they can be used in the studios.
Equipped with professional lighting sets and backdrop systems, the Photography Studio is a compact shooting space designed primarily for product and portrait photography. Students learn the finer points of studio lighting hands-on here, and can realise personal artistic productions as well as course projects.
The largest shooting space on campus, the Photography and Video Studio is equipped with backdrop systems; large-scale photo and video productions — fashion shoots above all — mainly take place here. The studio is designed not only to help students go beyond the basic use of the technical possibilities of photography and video, but also to grasp their quality as artistic tools and to show how these tools can be employed as a language of art. Students become acquainted with different tendencies that may interest them, engage with them, and thus position themselves in terms of innovative approaches.
With the GreenBox Studio located in the Film Studios building, students can experience all the processes behind and in front of the camera in a professional GreenBox installation, while producing projects that support the course content. With the Chorama Keying technique, the green colour is separated from the image and the desired new colour channel is created.
Thanks to the GreenBox installation, which was developed for adding content to videos, students can construct the worlds of their imagination.
In the Digital Printing Studio, students can turn their designs into printed products using devices such as large-format printers, plotters and vinyl cutters. In this studio, where posters, exhibition visuals and portfolio prints are produced, students experience the entire printing process — from digital file preparation to the final product — under the supervision of expert instructors.
Equipped with digital and analogue recording devices and musical instruments, this area includes a soundproofed control room, and recording rooms. It can be used as a masterclass on mixing and production, music and sound recordings, sound designs for film and media, and a music rehearsal area for Sound Arts Design education.
The Design Studios consist of different themes, workshops and units where students and group managers can incorporate different perspectives of creativity into design-oriented experimentation and research practice. The interaction of students at different levels in groups on various themes is important.
Students can choose their own projects, topics, research and design methods and link their design-oriented research with other disciplines such as film, animation, photography, creative writing, digital and analog engineering.
It is a practical lesson and rehearsal area covered with a floor suitable for movement, with various heights and accessories suitable for all kinds of physical, sonic and expressive studies required by acting and theatre education. Additionally It includes a sound and projection system. In this area, acting education courses, workshops, play rehearsals, as well as theoretical lectures and video film screenings can be held.
In the Textile Design Studios, students bring their designs to life on fabric using sewing machines, pattern tables and textile production equipment. Experiencing processes such as pattern making, sewing and surface design hands-on, students can develop their collections and projects from initial idea to finished product.
The Performance Studios are covered with raised wooden flooring suitable for all kinds of dance and physical work, and healthy for jumps and falls. Equipped with sound and projection systems, these spaces host all kinds of applied classes, workshops and rehearsals in both dance and acting, together with theoretical lectures and film screenings.
