As part of the seminar series organised by the ARUCAD Department of Sound Arts and Design, Sen. Ins. Ataman Kınış delivered a presentation titled “Digital Dialogues with Traditional Principles: Contemporary Composition through Makams and Microtonality.” The seminar was held on 17 December 2025 at BA SIN03.
The presentation explored the relationship between traditional makam music and microtonal structures within contemporary composition practices. Through selected examples, Kınış discussed the creative interactions that emerge when traditional musical principles intersect with digital and experimental compositional approaches.
The seminar provided students with an opportunity to reflect on how historical musical systems can inform and enrich contemporary sound practices within the field of sound arts and design.
