The exhibition titled “Innocent of Theory” by Mike Berg, organized by Art Rooms Gallery in collaboration with Arkın University of Creative Arts and Design (ARUCAD), met with art audiences at an opening cocktail held on Friday, 28 November. The opening was attended by ARUCAD Founder Erbil Arkın, academics, students, and numerous art enthusiasts.
Highlighting the artist’s layered approach to abstraction, spatial sensitivity, and material transitions, the exhibition invites viewers into a quiet complexity. The selection features works ranging from multilayered drawings and paintings on handmade paper to woven textures and metal structures, creating a unique atmosphere shaped by constantly shifting light, shadow, and form.
Drawing on years spent between New York, Cheney, and Istanbul, Berg’s practice embraces a visual language grounded not in direct narration, but in spontaneity of form, subtle order, and openness to ambiguity. These works, revealing the artist’s observational depth and intuitive expressive strength, invite the viewer into a space where meaning remains suspended.
The three-dimensional work titled “From Here to There” (sculpture/installation), which was on view during the opening, will be relocated to the ARUCAD Main Campus following the conclusion of the exhibition, where it will continue to be presented to audiences.
The exhibition can be visited free of charge at Art Rooms Gallery in Kyrenia until 8 January 2026.
