Webinar “Cultural Encounters in Theatre and Beyond” Held at ARUCAD Acting Department

The “Cultural Encounters in Theatre and Beyond” web seminar, organized by the Acting Department of Arkın University of Creative Arts and Design (ARUCAD) within the Experience Sharing course, was held on Thursday, 8 January 2026, featuring theatre artist and cultural manager Müjdat Albak. The session was moderated by Sen Ins. Şafak Ersözlü.

As a founding director of Güneş Theatre and Frankfurt International Theater, Albak shared insights into intercultural theatre practices, migration-driven artistic production, and the aesthetic and political dimensions of creating theatre across different geographies. Drawing from his extensive experience, he discussed collective creation models, street theatre traditions, and long-term international collaborations.

Highlighting the importance of collective artistic processes, Albak stated that
“Theatre has never been a single signature for us; it has always been a collective journey.”
He also emphasized the necessity of engaging with local realities, noting that
“Theatre that is disconnected from the social and cultural context of where it is produced cannot truly engage its audience.”

During the seminar, it was also officially announced that an international cooperation protocol between Güneş Theatre and ARUCAD Acting Department has been initiated, aiming to foster future joint projects and international exchange opportunities for students.

The web seminar concluded with an interactive Q&A session, offering students a comprehensive perspective on theatre education, artistic identity, and intercultural production practices.
