The students and staff of Arkın University of Creative Arts and Design (ARUCAD) English Preparatory School, in collaboration with Nicosia Turkish Municipality, organized a special event on Friday, April 25th, for children receiving services at the Nicosia Children’s Centre, as part of the celebrations for the National Sovereignty and Children’s Day. This social responsibility project, titled “Art & Heart with ARUCAD,” aimed to offer the children a day full of both educational and creative experiences.
The event began with a welcoming session at the Arabahmet Culture House. The program included a short video prepared by ARUCAD students, followed by lively English songs, an interactive flashcard game, and a puppet show performed in English, accompanied by live guitar music.
In the second part of the event, the children moved to the Nicosia Children’s Centre, where they participated in four different learning and activity stations. They engaged in English language games, arts and crafts workshops, a reading station, and a face painting area — providing them an environment where they could both develop their language skills and express themselves creatively.
At the end of the day, each child received a gift bag containing specially designed bookmarks created by ARUCAD English Preparatory School students, handwritten letters, educational materials, and small toys. This event, realized through the voluntary contributions of the Preparatory School students, became a meaningful experience that strengthened their sense of social responsibility and community engagement.
Commenting on the event, İnanç Uçaröz, Director of ARUCAD English Preparatory School, said:
“Through this special day, we aimed not only to offer the children a fun experience but also to provide an inclusive and inspiring environment that encourages language learning. As a university, we continue to support the development of creative individuals as responsible citizens who contribute to society through projects like this one.”
