ARUCAD Industrial Design Students Advance to the Final Stage of the 16th National Furniture Design Competition

In the 16th National Furniture Design Competition, organised under the coordination of the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Trade and hosted by the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) in collaboration with the Orta Anadolu Furniture, Paper and Forest Products Exporters’ Association (OMKO), projects developed by students of the Industrial Design Department of the Faculty of Design at Arkın University of Creative Arts and Design (ARUCAD) were selected for the final stage following jury evaluation. Among 1,096 applications submitted by undergraduate and associate degree students, the selected projects ranked among the 152 students who advanced to the final stage.

Within the scope of the competition, the product design titled “LOTAIRUS”, developed as a group project by Edanur Büyükgedik and Poyraz Okur, advanced to the finals in the Smart Furniture category, while “CORDELIA”, submitted as a group project by Zeynep Şerife Tanrıöver and Mikhail Pliev, was selected for the final stage in the Home Furniturecategory. In addition, Edanur Büyükgedik’s individual project “AURA” and Zeynep Şerife Tanrıöver’s individual project “FAM-LOCK” were also selected as finalist projects in the Home Furniture category. Finalists were determined through a two-stage evaluation process conducted by the selection committee.

The award ceremony of the competition was held on 24 September 2025 at ATO Congresium in Ankara. During the ceremony, awards were presented across 28 categories, while exhibitions and talks featuring finalist projects took place throughout the day.

Following the competition process, ARUCAD Rector Prof. Dr. Asım Vehbi met with the finalist students at the university. Expressing his satisfaction with the students representing the university in a competition held in Türkiye, Vehbi stated, “It is a source of pride for us that our students advanced to the final stage of this competition. Behind each project lies a serious process of effort and production. I believe this experience will play an important role in our students’ professional development.” Vehbi later presented the students with certificates of appreciation in recognition of their efforts throughout the process.
