ARUCAD Public Lecture “Why Is AI Writing Poetry?” Held

Arkin University of Creative Arts and Design (ARUCAD) hosted a public lecture titled “Why Is AI Writing Poetry?” delivered by Prof. Dr. Vic Grout on 16 December 2025 at the Conference Hall. In his lecture, Prof. Dr. Grout discussed how technology—and particularly artificial intelligence—was initially expected to liberate humans from repetitive labor, yet has increasingly entered creative domains. Focusing on AI’s engagement with literary production, he examined how algorithms are now capable of generating poetic texts and what this development reveals about contemporary notions of creativity. Grout emphasized that AI-generated poetry is not merely a technical achievement, but also a conceptual shift that raises important questions about authorship, originality, and the future relationship between human creativity and machine intelligence. The lecture offered participants a critical and interdisciplinary perspective on the evolving role of artificial intelligence in creative practices.
