Cyprus Universities Union Represented Northern Cyprus Higher Education at EURIE 2026

The 11th Eurasian Higher Education Summit (EURIE 2026), organized by the Eurasian Universities Union (EURAS), was held on April 7–9, 2026, at the Istanbul Lütfi Kırdar Congress Center. The summit brought together leading universities, academics, and key representatives of the higher education sector from around the world, providing an important platform for innovations in education and international academic collaborations.

The Cyprus Universities Union (KÜB), with the stand it opened at the summit, represented universities in Northern Cyprus and contributed to the development of international academic collaborations. Representing KÜB at the stand were rectors and academics from Arkın University of Creative Arts and Design (ARUCAD), Cyprus American University (KAÜ), Cyprus Aydın University (CAU), International Cyprus University (UKÜ), and November 15 Cyprus University (OKKU).

As part of the summit, the President of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, and the Education Attaché of the Istanbul Consulate General, Mustafa Çırakoğlu, visited the KÜB stand and met with university representatives.

KÜB President and ARUCAD Rector Prof. Dr. Asım Vehbi made the following remarks in his evaluation of the fair: “As the Cyprus Universities Union, representing our country on an international platform is of great importance to us. Within the scope of EURIE 2026, we had the opportunity to meet with representatives of many universities and institutions and to promote the higher education system of Northern Cyprus. It is extremely valuable for us that different universities can act together under the same umbrella and demonstrate this solidarity. I hope that this cooperation and shared representation approach will continue to grow stronger in the coming period.”

While EURIE 2026 hosted important engagements in terms of developing international collaborations, strengthening academic networks, and evaluating new opportunities in higher education, the Cyprus Universities Union aimed to increase the international visibility of the Northern Cyprus higher education system on this platform.
