Organised by the New Media and Communication Department of Arkın University of Creative Arts and Design (ARUCAD), the seminar titled “Ethical Journalism in the New World” took place on April 9, 2025, at DA CLA02. Hosted as part of the Innovative Practices course, the event featured Aysu Basri Akter, Chairperson of the Media Ethics Committee, as the guest speaker, and was moderated by the course instructor, Asst. Prof. Dr. Huri Yontucu.
During the seminar, Aysu Basri Akter emphasised the importance of media ethics not only for professional journalists but also for citizen journalists and social media users. She discussed the ethical steps that need to be taken to combat fake news and misinformation, and examined the threats posed by deepfake technology in the media through global case studies.
Akter also shared insights from her professional experiences, notable interviews she conducted, and spoke about both the rewards and challenges of the journalism profession.
The seminar provided an inspiring and eye-opening experience for students, once again highlighting the crucial importance of media ethics in today's digital age.
