Melissa Ugolini Joined ARUCAD’s Online Seminar Titled “Interdisciplinary Collaboration”

As part of the Department of Modern Dance at Arkin University of Creative Arts and Design (ARUCAD), international dancer, choreographer, and rehearsal director Melissa Ugolini was hosted as the guest of an online seminar titled “Interdisciplinary Collaboration.” The event was held via video conference and broadcast live through ARUCAD’s digital channels. Organized within the scope of the CDNC 307 Exchange Experiences Dance course, the seminar aimed to bring students into direct contact with artists who are actively producing in the field. During the seminar, Ugolini shared her movement practice shaped by cross-cultural experiences and interdisciplinary collaborations, discussing how the body–mind relationship informs creative processes. Reflecting on the growing relevance of interdisciplinary approaches in contemporary performance-making, she emphasized that creative work expands when different areas of expertise and perspectives come together, rather than remaining within a single discipline. The event also included a creative workshop and an artist talk with students, inviting participants to focus on the internal dynamics of movement, spatial awareness, and the possibilities of collective creation. In the Q&A session shaped by student reflections, Ugolini also addressed how interdisciplinary collaboration can open transformative space in terms of artistic identity, creative freedom, and sustained motivation in artistic practice.
