Performances Addressing Social Issues Took Place at Bandabuliya Stage

Performances organized by the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Office and the Sustainability Office of Arkın University of Creative Arts and Design (ARUCAD) were presented by students of the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts as part of the Sustainability course on 27 January 2026 at Bandabuliya Stage. The performances addressed urgent and contemporary social issues such as violence against women, the climate crisis, and hunger through the language of performance.

Organized by the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Office, “Beyond the Visible” focused on violence against women, drawing attention to experiences that often remain unseen, silenced, or ignored. Through body and movement, the performance explored not only the physical but also the psychological and social dimensions of violence.

Also organized by the same office, “Unsustainable” addressed the climate crisis and the destructive impact of human activity on the natural world. Structured around themes of imbalance, fragility, and uncertainty, the performance invited the audience to reflect on the far-reaching consequences of the climate crisis on individual and collective life.

Organized by the Sustainability Office, “In the Shadow of Hunger” centered on global issues such as hunger, poverty, and unequal access to resources. Through a symbolic narrative and a strong visual language, the performance brought attention to food insecurity and the right to access basic needs.

These performances at Bandabuliya Stage reflected ARUCAD’s approach to artistic production as a space where education, social responsibility, and critical engagement intersect. Created within an academic framework, the students’ performances demonstrated the power of art as a tool for awareness, reflection, and transformation.
