Webinar: “Beyond One Skill: Becoming a Versatile Communicator” Held at ARUCAD

Organized by the ARUCAD Visual Communication Design Department, the webinar titled “Beyond One Skill: Becoming a Versatile Communicator” focused on the increasingly multidisciplinary nature of communication. Featuring Tunç Özceber as the speaker—known for his experience with the World Health Organization (WHO) as well as work across media, publishing, and international communication—the event highlighted the importance of developing multiple skill sets rather than relying on a single area of expertise.   The webinar emphasized that communication today extends beyond content production to include strategy, audience understanding, and trust-building. In particular, crisis communication was addressed, underlining the importance of speed, accuracy, and managing misinformation. Students were encouraged to develop not only technical skills but also competencies such as empathy, cultural awareness, and cross-disciplinary collaboration as essential components of professional growth.   Another key concept discussed during the event was the idea of the “T-shaped professional,” referring to individuals who combine deep expertise in one area with a broad range of complementary skills. The session reinforced the idea that communication should be approached as a strategic field, requiring adaptability and the ability to produce across platforms. Overall, the webinar highlighted that success in communication increasingly depends on versatility, strategic thinking, and the ability to respond effectively in complex environments.
