7th International Congress of Landscape Architecture Research (ICLAR 2025) to Be Held at ARUCAD

Arkin University of Creative Arts and Design (ARUCAD) is preparing to host the 7th International Congress of Landscape Architecture Research (ICLAR 2025) on 20–21 November 2025. The congress will take place at the ARUCAD Conference Hall in Kyrenia and will offer both in-person and online participation, bringing together members of the international academic community.

This year’s congress, held under the theme “Climate-Sensitive Design and Sustainable Landscape Architecture,”draws attention to the urgent need for effective adaptation and mitigation strategies within landscape architecture, urban design, and related disciplines — especially at a time when the impacts of climate change are becoming increasingly tangible. Topics to be discussed include climate-oriented landscape and building design, sustainable planning approaches, smart technology applications, innovative design methods, urban ecology, and environmental health, all approached from an interdisciplinary perspective. In addition, the congress will explore new dimensions of landscape planning and design in socio-cultural contexts, alongside policies for climate change adaptation and mitigation.

The event aims to foster scientific exchange, promote academic production, and lay the groundwork for long-term international collaborations by bringing together academics, researchers, professionals, and policymakers from around the world. Participants will have the opportunity to present their research on an international platform, engage with colleagues from different countries, and receive constructive feedback on their ongoing studies.

All accepted abstracts will be published in the official Proceedings Book, and selected full papers will be considered for publication in the International Journal of Landscape Architecture Research (IJLAR) following a peer-review process.

Prof. Dr. Gülay Çetinkaya Çiftçioğlu, Chair of ARUCAD’s Department of Architecture and Chair of the Congress, emphasized in her invitation the importance of collective effort in designing more livable environments and healthier cities, calling on all participants to join ARUCAD in sharing knowledge and experience to develop solutions for the global challenges facing landscape architecture and related fields.

Prof. Dr. Burcu Toker, ARUCAD Vice Rector for Research and Development, highlighted that the congress provides a valuable platform for discussing the roles that design and planning disciplines can play in combating the climate crisis, stressing the importance of contributions from both researchers and practitioners.
