Arvin Medghalchi Discussed the Animation Pipeline and AI at ARUCAD

A webinar titled “The Animation Pipeline & Career Development: Animation in the Age of AI,” organized by the Faculty of Communication at Arkin University of Creative Arts and Design, was held on Monday, March 23, 2026, at TK CLA04. Animated filmmaker Arvin Medghalchi joined as the speaker, addressing the structure of the animation industry, production processes, and career pathways.

The session provided a comprehensive overview of the animation pipeline, covering all stages from initial idea development and storyboarding to production and post-production. By grounding these stages in real industry practices rather than abstract definitions, the webinar offered participants a clear understanding of how animation projects evolve in professional contexts. It also explored various career paths, including studio work, freelance practice, independent production, and motion design.

One of the central themes of the webinar was the role of artificial intelligence in animation. AI was discussed as a supportive tool used for concept development, visual experimentation, prototyping, and technical assistance. However, it was emphasized that creativity, originality, and artistic direction remain fundamentally human-driven qualities that cannot be replaced by AI. Throughout the session, students were encouraged to view animation not only as an artistic discipline but also as a versatile form of communication used across fields such as television, branding, logo design, and education. The speaker also provided practical guidance on portfolio development, experimenting with styles, collaboration, and gradually building a career in the field.

Key topics included storytelling, visual communication, concept development, moodboard creation, and artistic direction as core components of animation practice. The discussion also addressed how AI-supported workflows may increase efficiency while simultaneously raising expectations and intensifying competition within the industry.

Drawing from his professional experience, Arvin Medghalchi highlighted the importance of building a strong creative and technical foundation while staying open to technological change without compromising artistic identity.
