“LOTR: My Precious” Interdisciplinary Student Exhibition

On 26 June 2026, the ARUCAD Faculty of Arts presented the interdisciplinary student exhibition titled "LOTR: My Precious" at the Art Gallery in The Kiss Building on the Main Campus.

Organized under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Elçin Şener as part of the Basic Art II course (2025–2026 academic year), the exhibition featured works by students from the Departments of Plastic Arts, Ceramics, Photography, Film Design and Directing, and Textile and Fashion Design. A total of 43 students participated in the exhibition, which was open to the public and attracted significant interest from both on-campus and off-campus visitors.

The exhibition was developed using a narrative research approach inspired by the film The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. Students analyzed the film's characters, settings, atmosphere, and narrative structure, translating these elements into interdisciplinary creative works through their respective artistic practices.

Throughout the project, the use of recycled materials and a sustainable design approach were among the central themes. Students engaged in research-based, experimental, and material-focused creative processes to produce original works. The exhibition provided a comprehensive learning and production experience supported by interdisciplinary collaboration and intensive studio practice.

In line with the course learning outcomes, the exhibition contributed to the development of students' research-based design skills, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary creative practices. Students' work was evaluated through both their production portfolios and final exhibition presentations.

The project was structured around measurable learning outcomes and a process-oriented assessment approach. It also contributed to environmental awareness and ARUCAD's institutional culture of quality through its emphasis on sustainability and interdisciplinary creative practice.

Following the successful model established by the "Alice" project in previous academic years, ARUCAD aims to continue organizing interdisciplinary exhibitions and collaborative production projects at the end of each academic term as part of a sustainable education and creative practice model.
