6th ARUCAD HIGH SCHOOL DESIGN COMPETITION “FROM WASTE TO ART: AESTHETICS THROUGH RECYCLING”
The future of our planet is in recycling! In nature, society, and art transformation is everywhere. With a different perspective, everything once seen as waste can turn into a new story. Art reshapes objects and ideas, and gives them new meanings. But can waste turn into art?
Recycling in art transforms not only materials but also thought and aesthetic understanding. A piece of plastic can become a sculpture, an old fabric can turn into an artistic design, and the traces of the past can create the aesthetics of the future.
As Arkın University of Creative Arts and Design (ARUCAD), we want to see how young people interpret the connection between recycling and aesthetics. Our 6th High School Design Competition, organised under the title “From Waste to Art: Aesthetics through Recycling,” aims to encourage a creative generation to think about sustainable art and bring them together with the transformative power of art. Students from all high schools in the Republic of Turkey, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and abroad can participate in the competition.
Students can utilise any discipline from the fields of art, design, and visual communication (painting, photography, video, digital painting, illustration, poster, poster, comic book, caricature, ceramics, glass, sculpture, textiles, game design, animation, architecture, stage design, interior design) in the preparation of their works. Participants can enter the competition with a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 5 works prepared in different disciplines. Students can prepare their works on any paper, on any surface, or in 3D configurations in any size they wish.
Students can upload their prepared works via https://apply.arucad.edu.tr/6th-international-high-school-design-competition-application-form/. For works applied to any paper or surface, it will be sufficient to take a photo with a smartphone and upload it via the application form provided above. Works prepared in a digital environment should be sent in jpeg format, videos in mp4 format, and ceramics or sculpture as photographs in jpeg format.
The competition jury will evaluate the submitted images. The competition results will be announced 30 days after the deadline at www.arucad.edu.tr and on the university’s social media accounts.
