Artist-Led Practical Workshop Completed in the Department of Plastic Arts

The Department of Plastic Arts at ARUCAD organised the workshop “Mixed-Media Sculpture Production Processes Using Metal and Cement” on 18–19 December 2025. Coordinated by Assist. Prof. Dr. Raif Dimililer, the workshop brought internationally recognised contemporary artist Ledelle Moe together with students.

Throughout the workshop, students from the Department of Plastic Arts had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in sculpture production processes using mixed techniques that combined materials such as metal and cement. Production methods, creative design approaches, and technical aspects of material use were explored in detail.

Students engaged in every stage of sculpture production, from concept development and design to material selection, production planning, technical applications, and surface treatments, further developing their technical and aesthetic evaluation skills.

Supporting ARUCAD’s student-centred and practice-based educational approach, the workshop strengthened artist–academic–student interaction and contributed to the professional development of participants. The event was also regarded as an important academic activity aligned with the university’s goals of internationalisation and fostering collaborations with external stakeholders.

During the workshop, the sculpture Undulation (Dream), created by Ledelle Moe with the assistance of students from the Department of Plastic Arts, was later presented as part of the Soil and Water exhibition curated by Başak Şenova at Art Rooms Gallery and subsequently installed on the ARUCAD Campus for permanent display.
