The Theatre Club of Arkin University of Creative Arts and Design brought audiences together with the play “Dear Doctor,” adapted by Neil Simon and inspired by the stories of Anton Chekhov. The one-act comedy was staged on April 2, 2026, at the Bandabuliya Stage in Nicosia and on April 3, 2026, at the ARUCAD Conference Hall in Kyrenia.
Exploring both the humorous and fragile aspects of human nature, the play presented themes such as love, pride, fear, and compassion through a series of distinct stories. While each segment appeared independent, the overall narrative created a cohesive experience that was both entertaining and thought-provoking. The dynamic structure of the play and the diversity of characters contributed to a strong and engaging stage language.
Directed by Ersan Çıkı, the cast included Ada Güner, Beren Çeliker, Çağan Türkili, Doğa Arifoğlu, Ekin Duruk, Ergin Aday, Ersan Çıkı, Hazal Aydemir, Kadir Taşcan, Lamira Günbatı, Mert İsmail Aksoy, Muhammed Fettah Tatlı, Mustafa Navruz, Nehir Firik, Selin Çolak, Simay Ekin Karabıyık, Taner Dilek, and Yalın Doğasal. Stage management was carried out by Ekin Duruk, while lighting and sound design were created by Metehan Kayan. Costume and set design were developed by the ARUCAD Theatre Club.
“Dear Doctor” attracted significant interest from audiences, standing out with its blend of humor and insight into human nature, as well as the strong performances of ARUCAD students.
