ARUCAD’s Interpretation of Kafka Staged at the Bilkent International Theatre Festival

The Department of Acting at the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts of Arkin University of Creative Arts and Design (ARUCAD) took part in the 12th Bilkent Theatre Days, held between 22–26 June, with its production Serçe Parmağını Kaşlarında Gezdirmek.

Organized by the Department of Theatre at Bilkent University, the festival brought together theatre departments from Türkiye and other countries, providing students with the opportunity to present their end-of-year projects and engage in international artistic exchange.

As part of the festival programme, the performance was staged on Thursday, 25 June, at 8:00 p.m. on the Main Stage of Bilkent University. Following the highly acclaimed performance, the seat signed by the cast was left as a souvenir at the Bilkent University Theatre Department.

Developed by senior Acting students as part of the Dramatic Narrative Creation course, Serçe Parmağını Kaşlarında Gezdirmek was inspired by Franz Kafka's A Report to an Academy, In the Penal Colony, and The Metamorphosis. The production brought together short plays developed by Yalın Doğasal, Selin Çolak, and Ersan Çıkı within a shared dramaturgical structure. Representing ARUCAD at the festival were Prof. Dr. Kerem Karaboğa, Dean of the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts and director of the production; Assist. Prof. Dr. Pervin Kurçeren, Head of the Department of Plastic Arts and the production's animation and visual designer; actors Yalın Doğasal, Selin Çolak, and Ersan Çıkı; and technical team members Metehan Kayan, Ekin Duruk, and Bünyamin İslamoğlu.

Throughout the festival, the ARUCAD team met with theatre students and academics from Türkiye and other countries, exchanging experiences while representing the university's interdisciplinary approach to creative practice on an international platform.
