“DISCONNECT” Exhibition Brings Cyprus’s Artistic Production to Istanbul at EXPERIMENTALMine Art Gallery!

The “DISCONNECT” exhibition, bringing together works by students, alumni, and artist-academic Prof. Dr. Turan Aksoy, a faculty member in the Department of Plastic Arts at Arkin University of Creative Arts and Design (ARUCAD), Northern Cyprus’s thematic university focused on art and design, has opened! Hosted by EXPERIMENTAL Mine Art Gallery, the exhibition makes the creative production environment of the Kyrenia based university visible in Istanbul. Consisting of works produced across painting, video, installation, photography, sculpture, and various other media, “DISCONNECT” offers a polyphonic space of encounter emerging from the intersection of different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. The exhibition can be visited at EXPERIMENTAL Mine Art Gallery in Kadıköy until June 27.

The exhibition titled “DISCONNECT,” featuring works by ARUCAD students, alumni, and artist-academic Turan Aksoy, is being hosted by EXPERIMENTAL Mine Art Gallery, one of Istanbul’s established art galleries.

Bringing together the production strategies developed by 15 artists from different countries around concepts such as research, language relations, reality and deformation, memory, and remembrance, “DISCONNECT” proposes a multilayered space for reflection that moves between individual narratives and collective experiences. Comprising works in painting, video, installation, photography, sculpture, and various other media, the exhibition addresses the fragmented forms of communication of our time, cultural transitions, and questions of belonging, while also making visible the shared spaces of artistic production among artists from different geographies.

The participation of Prof. Dr. Turan Aksoy, a faculty member and artist in ARUCAD’s Department of Plastic Arts, alongside his students within the same creative space strengthens the conceptual framework of “DISCONNECT”. The coexistence of decades of artistic experience with young artists from different countries creates room for an intergenerational dialogue. In addition to Aksoy, the exhibition features works by Tasiia Staforova, Nina Nazarova, Buse Nur Çeft, Nafiseh Hadi, Saba Khaledi Far, Ada Fecriye Terzi, Sofia Kılıç, Bejan Shamsov, Maye Onan, Anna Bakaeva, Ali Ghorbani, Elin Yurtdaş, Tual Zeyin, and Mehveş Beyidoğlu.

The “DISCONNECT” exhibition can be visited at EXPERIMENTAL Mine Art Gallery between June 4 and June 27, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, except on Sundays and Mondays.
