President of Nicosia Badminton Club, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nevzad Denerel, visited Arkın University of Creative Arts and Design (ARUCAD) Rector, Prof. Dr. Asım Vehbi, to express gratitude for the university’s support in the recently held Ahmet Özdal Winter Cup Tournament, sponsored by ARUCAD. Denerel thanked the university for its contributions to sports and presented Rector Vehbi with a plaque of appreciation.
The tournament, held in memory of Ahmet Özdal—who passed away last year and was the Founding President of the Nicosia Badminton Club as well as a long-serving member of Arkın Group—brought together 57 badminton players from Turkey and abroad with ARUCAD’s sponsorship.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nevzad Denerel visited ARUCAD Rector Prof. Dr. Asım Vehbi in his office to express gratitude for the university’s contributions to the tournament.
Emphasizing the positive impact of sports on individual development, ARUCAD Rector Prof. Dr. Asım Vehbi stated, “As a university, while we place art and design at our core, we also attach great importance to the development of sports. With this approach, we will continue to support initiatives that contribute to the advancement of sports and encourage young people to engage in athletic activities. Our Founder, Erbil Arkın, and our Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Sinan Arkın, have always supported us in every step we take in this field.”
President of Nicosia Badminton Club, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nevzad Denerel, highlighted the importance of universities contributing to such sports, saying, “It is extremely important for universities to support the development of sports like badminton. Our Founding President, Ahmet Özdal, was a pioneer in promoting badminton in Cyprus and raising awareness among young people in this field. We wanted to organize this tournament to honor his memory after his passing last year. Throughout this process, Arkın Group Founder, Mr. Erbil Arkın, who worked with him for many years, generously supported us. I extend my gratitude to him and to ARUCAD officials.”
With ARUCAD’s support, the Ahmet Özdal Winter Cup not only brought together athletes from the region but also contributed to the promotion of sports and the discovery of young talents.
