

Merve Senem Arkan has graduated from Archaeology and Art History Major at the Eastern Mediterranean University in Cyprus where she also holds a Master’s degree in Eastern Mediterranean Studies which was awarded in 2011. Her Ph.D. dissertation “The Urban Cartography of Cyprus: Between the 16th and the 20th Centuries” was awarded in 2017 from the History of Cartography Department at Eötvös Lorand University. Between 2015 and 2017 she became the honorary secretary of The International Society for the History of the Map (ISHMap). She has several academic publications on Cypriot cartography, and continues her research on this field.
