Arkin University of Creative Arts and Design (ARUCAD) Acting Department hosted the webinar “Beyond Soundpainting: Sound, Movement and Collective Creation” on May 14, 2026.
The seminar featured curator, cultural professional, and dancer Burcu Yılmaz Deniz, who explored the relationship between sound, movement, and collective creation through the lens of soundpainting. Throughout the session, participants engaged with interdisciplinary performance-making, improvisation methods, and collaborative artistic processes.
During the webinar, soundpainting was presented not only as a gestural language but also as a collective creative tool bringing together multiple artistic disciplines. Participants examined the connections between sound, movement, rhythm, and improvisation through practical examples. The session highlighted how soundpainting creates a non-hierarchical space for collaboration between music, dance, acting, and performance arts.
Drawing from her experiences in France and her international workshops, Burcu Yılmaz Deniz shared insights into how soundpainting can be used in collective creation, artistic experimentation, and pedagogical practices. She also discussed her work with children and interdisciplinary workshops, emphasising the educational potential of the method.
Throughout the seminar, participants took part in various sound and movement exercises, experiencing improvisational creation processes in an online environment. The event concluded with a Q&A session.
